Jette Feldt organized the first Swedish International grooming Competition, Swedgroom, in 2014. The competition became, against all odds, a success. Many Swedish dog groomers competed and many came to watch out of curiosity, also contestants from Germany, Poland, Greece, Italy, Finland, Denmark and several other countries attended.
With the support of a strong sponsor, K9 competition, we wrote history with pride and with our heads held high.

In 2015 a name change was unavoidable as the name Swedgroom was in a dispute. The new name became Scandinavian Master Groom. The organizer was the same, Jette Feldt, and the support of K9 Competition remained. This year there were more Swedish competing but less foreign, unfortunately.
2016 we received a request from the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Gothenburg to have our competition there in connection with their Dog Show called MyDOG which is the largest dog show in the north. This we could not refuse because it would mean more visitors and more visibility for the sponsors. We got high praises from our judges and many visitors came with suggestions for improvement, wonderful!

In 2017 Jette Feldt proprietress of the name Swedgroom and since this name is not confusingly similar to other names so it became obvious that the name must be changed back. In 2017 Chris Christensen and Andis was the main sponsor of the competition, Swedgroom. The competition went well and again the best Swedish groomer and best in show  was titled. Trophys, rosettes and great sponsorgifts was handed over to the lucky winners. The success was once again a fact.

The European Grooming Association -non profit making-, targeted on promoting and developing the grooming profession, was born from an Umberto Lehmann's idea shared with Mijo Klein, his friend and very known and appreciated French groomer, during a grooming contest in 2001. More and more contests are held, people can meet and compare different schools, but most of all competitions are a stimulus to improve one's capacities and the best way to achieve success in professional activity.
Each Country can count at least one National Association trying to obtain the official recognition of our profession, organizing formation courses and specific seminars and contests to estimate acquired levels as well.
